Sunshine joined Waste Not Consulting in 2003, bringing with her three years experience in the solid waste industry. Since then Sunshine has worked as Senior Resource Consultant and is now a Director.
With almost 10 years experience working with waste and recycling systems, and excellent interpersonal and project management skills, Sunshine is the perfect person to assist organisations to develop integrated waste and recycling systems throughout their operations. Sunshine has worked with organisations such as Telecom, The Correspondence School and Auckland University of Technology, providing an in-depth analysis of current waste and recycling systems, and developing and implementing new improved systems. These recycling systems provide the potential for cost savings, significant staff satisfaction and positive public relations.
Sunshine works with a number of government organisations that are signatories of the Ministry for the Environment's Govt3 programme. She is also contracted by local authorities in the Auckland Region as an EnviroSmart® Consultant, assisting businesses to gain EnviroMark®'s environmental management system accreditation.
Sunshine has managed a variety of waste auditing, clean retail, cleaner production and research projects. Specific projects include the following:
- Provides consulting services to businesses participating in the EnviroSmart® programme.
- Conducted surveys of waste and recycling systems and developed recommendations for waste minimisation initiatives for the Department of Corrections, Auckland Regional Council, Vodafone Ltd, Watercare Services Ltd, Metrowater, Auckland City Council, North Shore City Council, Rodney District Council, Thames-Coromandel District Council, Environment Bay of Plenty, Environment Waikato, Kiwi Income Property Trust, Meridian Energy Ltd, and Chapman Tripp.
- Managed a Tauranga City Council Cleaner Production programme with a selection of businesses in Tauranga City, and a litter survey of the Auckland Region for the Be A Tidy Kiwi working group.
- Assisted Parliamentary Services, The Correspondence School, the Department of Corrections and the Department of Building and Housing to meet their waste minimisation objectives for the Govt3 programme.
- Has managed projects involving the survey of schools (for North Shore City Council) and businesses (for Enterprising Manukau).
